I Wonder What God Told Bush About Katrina

Consider the following quote taken from the Washington Post, Fri., June 27, 2003.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Abu Mazen, meeting recently with militants to enlist their support for a truce with Israel, said that, when they met in Aqaba, President Bush had told him this: " God told me to strike at al Qaeda and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam [ Hussein], which I did, and now I am determined to solve the problem in the Middle East. If you help me I will act, and if not, the elections will come and I will have to focus on them."

I wonder what God told Bush about Katrina. "Be still my son, you deserve a few more days of vacation, you've been working hard doing my bidding. Besides, they're not your constituents, it doesn't really matter. And anyway you're a conservative, government is bad remember? Just focus on getting rid of Social Security and the estate tax."

Bush gets his trademark "certitude" from his belief that God is guiding his hand and therefore since he is doing God's work can never be wrong. Seems like God tells ol' George just exactly what he wants to hear. At all times. See I think if you have a voice that whispers in your ear, tells you what to do and how do it, and it's always the answer you want to hear, it might not be god talking to you...

It might be SOMEONE ELSE.

Why I Like Hurricanes

Man creates greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gasses cause global warming. Global warming leads to more hurricanes. Hurricanes destroy our oil rigs and refineries. Gas costs more. We drive less. Less greenhouse gasses enter the atmosphere. Nature returns itself to a state of balance.

It's good TV. Anytime the actual event eclipses Geraldo's hype you know that some shit just went down.

The Problem With Benefit Concerts

I've been accused of being "negative" by some close enough to hear the epithets I hurl at the television. Here's my problem. Of course I "support" what they're doing, I support the cause (aid to millions of suffering people). However, when I watch these concerts they end up being a celebrity freakshow and all I can think is how much our "talent" has declined. These are the brightest stars our culture has produced and it becomes painfully apparent to me how much our culture has declined when I see them. Sorry, I'm a negative creep.

Kanye West Said It Best

I just saw Kanye West on the Hurricane Relief concert. He completely went off script and ended with, ..."George Bush doesn't care about black people." It was awesome. I agree with everything he said.

Tsunami Of Bullshit

Unfortunately, I can't put pictures up right now due to technical annoyance factors. But... as I watched President Bush amble from the plane to the helicopter with the New Orleans mayor he seemed to me more relaxed than usual. And then I remembered, he's just coming off a 5 WEEK vacation. How inappropriate is it to appear that relaxed? I think a little urgency would have been appropriate considering people are dropping dead left and right. I'm sure he thinks he should project calm and control but as usual he's wrong.

Where's Rudy? Where's the guy with the bullhorn taking charge? Nowhere. When will people wake up to the fact that this government is inept, incompetent, and at times downright malicious towards it's own people? Oh yeah, they're corrupt as hell too.

ON LOOTING

To hell with it. Save the people fuck WALMART!
